Upstate New York is the home of some great food. Some of the dishes, such as “Buffalo wings,” have become popular throughout the world. Others, like “grape pie,” “salt potatoes,” and “spiedies,” have remained regional specialties unknown outside the area. Student producers traveled throughout the region sampling its “anything-but-delicate” delicacies. The documentary examines the origination of each of the specialties, the unique establishments that sell them, and the people who make them. The program is more than just a documentary about food. It’s also a journey through one of the most picturesque regions in the United States.
